Shoot on Location at Harvest Time

Harvest time is a major milestone in the farming calendar. Finally, after month of costs and toil, the crops are being safely gathered in.

So take advantage and capture this powerful and momentous occupation in your own story told on camera. Shoot on location at harvest time and the backdrops will enthral.

Wheat harvest - Forty Acre Farm

Harvest time is a spectacle to behold. The mighty combine harvesters at work, supported by a team of tractors and trailers carting the grain from field to shed creates a positive buzz on the farm. The fields turn from blankets of standing, ripened corn to lines and lines of threshed straw. Then, in come the balers to produce handsome, neat bales, round, square, large or small.

Wrap this entertaining harvest show up in warm summer days and big open blue skies with wispy clouds, and then stand back and plan your shoot here.

The locations offered are on the Romney Marsh in Kent, the warmest, sunniest corner of the UK. The huge expanses of open skies offer amazing light,  the vastness of the arable landscape provide powerful backdrops, and the access to all sorts of harvest machinery, led by the kingpin the combine harvester, provide a great platform to deliver a film or photo shoot, be it for a fashion magazine or a TV drama.

Two combines - Forty Acre Farm

The crops being harvested this year include barley, wheat, oats, oilseed rape, linseed, flax, beans, peas and grass seed. Here on the Romney Marsh, many of the fields are surrounded by ditches and waterways, and in one part of the farm they sit alongside the RSPB nature reserve at Dungeness. We mixed bird spotting with combine harvester spotting this weekend.

Grass and combine - Fort Acre Farm

Harvest time starts mid July and extends through to early September, weather permitting and breakdown permitting! The farms include Whitehall Farm, Belgar Farm, Forty Acre Farm and Manor Farm.
