Red Farm, OX9
Red Farm is a working livestock farm with a herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle and a sheep flock too.
The farm’s 400 acres of rolling historical pasture is on the Oxfordshire / Buckinghamshire border, just 1 mile from the town of Thame. The farm offers two traditional farmyards, just 1.5 miles apart, with a wide mix of old and new farm buildings, a period farmhouse, cottages and smart converted barns, all allowing for plenty of variety of filming and photography options. The crew facilities are exceptional on site, with the provision of a light, spacious and comfortable crew base in the form of a converted tithe barn which can accommodate 100 crew.

Getting to Red Farm
The farm is about 1 hour’s drive from Central London, just 10 minutes from Junction 7 of the M40.
By train, the closest station is Haddenham and Thame Parkway, a 34 minute direct journey from London Marylebone.
Facilities at Red Farm
- Heating & Energy:
- They have renewable energy off grid electricity from 75kw of solar power and battery storage owned by the farm available for production use
- Renewable heating systems powered by a Hertz biomass boiler
- 3-phaser power is available on-site (main hook up points include the workshop, cafe and cattle shed) and a large amount of single phase across the whole farm
- Mobile power generators are on-site
- Water Supply:
- Pipped water is available on-site for use and water sources/systems include rainwater harvesting, ponds, and scrapes (additionally, a bore hole is in development)
- Public Transportation & Vehicle Use:
- Easy access for articulated vehicles and accessible by public transport (i.e. Haddenham and Thame Parkway Train Station 5min taxi away, bus stop opposite the farm)
- Local taxi firms available ad local pickups if requested by the farm
- 4 EV chargers are on site (2 by the cafe, 1 by the office, and 1 by the farmhouse)
- There’s a large car park for 70 cars on hard standing and a 10 acre over flow car park in the summer, which is a grass field. No access restrictions.
- Accommodation & Available Spaces:
- Plenty of convenient overnight accommodation options off-site including a Travelodge, just 1km from the farm.
- Large expanses of hard standing in the farmyards that hold large crews.
- Converted barn is set up as a function room and can seat up to 100 people, along with 2 loos and a kitchen.
- On-farm vehicles can be provided for getting around the site (with farm team driving) including a Ford Ranger, Quad, Ride on Mower,, 3 x John Deere Tractors, 1 x Manitou, numerous implements mowers and more
- Additional spaces available for crews include toilets, handwashing facilities, green rooms, production office space, meeting rooms
- Waste, Recycling & Repurposing:
- Recycling facilities on site include mixed recycling, glass, metal, cardboard/paper, and plastic. The farm have their our own recycling on site, but the production would need to provide for these services which the farm in turn have to pay for
- Composting facilities are on-site including food waste composting, green waste composting, and compost toilets (i.e. a human composter on site to support the compost loos)
- Specialist waste areas can be managed on-site including animal waste, agricultural waste, and wood waste
- The farm can organise the waste but these would be chargeable. Additionally, local businesses/organisations can support productions with waste reduction including, scrap dealers, food hubs, recycling centres, charities, and waste contractors
- Catering & Food:
- On-site food or catering services available include a farm shop, café, professional catering service, and farm produce available to purchase
- Surplus food from productions can be used and redistributed on the farm via the 14 different businesses on site or shared locally
- Facilities available for a crew’s catering needs include a whole well-equipped kitchen facilities, simple tea-making and washing up facility, undercover dining areas indoor seating, outdoor seating
- Equipment for Hire and Support:
- Farm vehicles, machinery, tools and equipment, fencing/gates, hay/ straw bales, and animals can be made available for productions to use for hire
- Open to storing, reusing or repurposing materials, props or set-build items from productions
- Farm support to crew available are earthworks support, grounds-keeping support, supply of farm props/materials, driving of farm vehicles, practical production assistance, and animal handling (all at an additional charge)
- In the local area it’s a good source for recruiting crew members, catering suppliers (i.e. Fallow and Fields Kitchen), equipment or unit/tech vehicle suppliers, and transport services
- Biodiversity & Nature:
- From the farm, through neighbouring farms/landowners, and local contacts, plants, foliage, and other natural materials can be sourced for production use
- Plants can be retained for future use or composted on the farm
- Crew Wellbeing
- The farm has yoga, a sauna, cold plunges, an on site therapist, pilates studio, sound baths, breath work classes, and choir to name a few available for crew wellbeing during production
- Additionally, pottery classes, a bakery, art school, theatre, and round house are available on-site to crew
- Sustainable Projects & Initiatives
- The farm plans to convert another barn into a hire space
