DIVERSIFY THE EASY WAY

When it comes to farm diversification, few opportunities offer so much potential for so little investment. That’s what makes becoming a film location such a no-brainer.

Farm Locations exists to help landowners make a success of it.

Since our founder, Jo Thompson, launched Farm Locations in 2015, we’ve helped hundreds of landowners welcome film and photo shoot crews onto their property. From major feature films and crime dramas to Christmas TV adverts, magazine fashion shoots and quirky music videos, we’ve arranged productions of all kinds, across the UK.

We’re here to give landowners the confidence, knowledge and support to make the most of the opportunity, enjoy the experience, and earn an additional income with next to no cost at all.

Meet the Founder

Jo Thompson set up Farm Locations 10 years ago.

When her family farm started to diversify, Jo added a different idea, to open up to film crews.

She listed with a London location agency, waited a couple years, but not one enquiry came through. Locations agencies just didn’t seem interested in the farm. Well, she was!

So she took matters into her own hands and shoot bookings gradually rolled in, starting with Tatler, and soon to also include Ted Baker, EE and Jeremy Clarkson for The Grand Tour.

With roots in farming and a career in media and property, these foundations have given Jo the belief she needs to be the champion for Britain’s farms in the film industry. And now with over 10 years of arranging shoots, the growing black book of contacts, connections and bank of knowledge and learnings, has led to hundreds of landowners and productions benefitting from the match-making service that’s Farm Locations.

Today it’s Jo, Carolyn, Gemma, and Marta who are your team behind the scenes and they are here to be your friendly face and helping hand in a whole new industry, and one far removed from farming.

MEET THE OWNERS

A huge thank you to Farm Locations, Jo and her team who were instrumental in obtaining the contract and for overseeing all the finer details for us so we could enjoy every minute.

We cannot speak too highly of Farm Locations – nothing is too much trouble and their understanding of what farms across the country have to offer to the industry is second to none. We really feel Farm Locations has put us on the map and we look forward to working with them again in the future.

Josie, first time host of a Universal Pictures feature film, released in cinemas September 2024

“Farm locations has just been brilliant in every way since we signed up 2 years ago. Jo visited our farm personally (which is rare for an agency) and has really got to know and understand what we can offer and advised us throughout the shoot process. Through Farm locations’ personal touch and direction we have hosted 28 shoots to date (far more than any other agency) including fashion shoots, music videos, film and TV – it’s enabled us to diversify effectively and make some money whilst enjoying it too!”
