Chessboard Farm is a working farm set in the rolling countryside of the Welsh borders, offering a mix of productive farmland, historic architecture and varied natural landscapes. Predominantly grassland with areas of arable farming, the estate combines open valleys, far-reaching views and woodland with an authentic collection of rural buildings.
One of the farm’s standout features is its Grade II*-listed Tudor and Elizabethan farmhouse, with the oldest timber-framed section dating back to 1419. The house has evolved over centuries, incorporating an elegant 1730 stone extension alongside a more recent addition, creating a layered blend of architectural styles. Interiors retain a wealth of original character, while exteriors showcase the distinctive black-and-white timber framing typical of the period.
The estate offers around 100 acres of mixed woodland with tracks running throughout, rolling grazing land, small ponds, traditional farmyards and agricultural buildings. Two contemporary glamping cabins provide a contrasting modern setting, with both interiors and exteriors available for filming.
