Honeyloch Estate, DD8
With lochs, hills, and open moorland within its ownership, Honeyloch Estate offers a dramatic multi-site shoot location, all within reach of major Scottish cities. Covering 8,000 acres of varied terrain on the southern edge of the Cairngorms National Park, the estate combines sweeping natural scenery with a rich collection of traditional and restored buildings.
Comprising a working cattle farm, the herd of 90 Highland and Native Angus cows graze freely across the pastures and uplands. A striking yellow country house, formerly a shooting lodge, offers both grand exteriors and elegant, traditional interiors. The farmhouse and whitewashed cottages scattered across the estate add to an authentic rural charm. A restored steading is a large stone and wood-panelled building now serving as an events space.
The farmyard offers a mix of older stone and timber barns alongside more modern agricultural sheds, all surrounded by open grassland and intersected by farm tracks.
Dotted throughout the wider landscape are several wooden bothies, each in a unique setting, one by the loch, another beside the river, and others positioned higher on the hillside near a ford, perfect for more remote scenes.
