Sovereign Estate, TN11
Set within 2,500 acres of Kent countryside, Sovereign Estate offers an exceptional variety of filming locations, centred around the historic manor house. From grand medieval interiors to formal gardens and far-reaching parkland, the estate provides versatile backdrops for film, TV and stills.
The stately house is a remarkable blend of medieval, Tudor and later architectural layers. The interiors are particularly striking, with a series of historic State Rooms, all filled with period detail, art and antiques. The standout Baron’s Hall, dating to 1341, is one of the finest surviving medieval halls in the country, a vast, atmospheric space with a 60ft chestnut-beamed ceiling and central open hearth.
Surrounding the house are 11 acres of formal walled gardens, arranged in a series of distinct outdoor “rooms.” Designed in a Baroque style, they feature clipped yew hedging, terraces, an Italian parterre, fountains, lily ponds, orchards and wide gravel pathways, all enclosed within historic walls and easily controlled for filming.
Beyond this, the wider estate opens into 200 acres of Grade I listed parkland and a further 2,000+ acres of mixed agricultural land. This includes rolling pasture, orchards, marshland and 500 acres of woodland with clearings and tracks. Six lakes are spread across the estate, from formal water features near the house to more secluded woodland settings.
The estate also offers a broad mix of buildings, from traditional Kentish farmyards, cottages and oast-style structures to derelict buildings, wartime pillboxes and modern agricultural spaces, allowing for a wide range of backdrops and practical spaces within one location.
