Whisper Estate is set within a quiet slice of rolling Devon countryside, offering a wonderful mix of farm life, faded grandeur, the natural, wild and quirky. It’s an extraordinary multi-location option all within a 600 acre area.

From open grass fields and parkland to dense woodland, marshy ground and dramatic ravines, Whisper Estate is varied, secluded and full of atmosphere. Grazing across the grassland are a mix of Red Devon cattle, shire horses, a donkey and an Ardenne mare. The estate’s ancient, steep-sided valleys carved by rivers and streams, create striking, enclosed contours, while higher ground opens out into far-reaching views that can feel mountain-like at close range.

Woodland is a defining feature here, with wide tracks cutting through areas of ancient trees, rhododendron and laurel, timber stacks from active forestry, and seasonal bluebells. Fields often run directly into woodland without fencing, adding to the natural, untamed feel, while lakes, ponds and streams provide additional backdrops.

At the centre of the estate sits a Georgian country house within established parkland, with elegant proportions and traditional interiors available for filming. Around the estate, a mix of buildings ranges from a traditional mixed-era farmyard with timber barns and corrugated structures, to more characterful elements, including partially derelict stone linney, log cabins in the woods and by the water, a static caravan set within the forest, along with other caravans.

FACILITIES AT THE LOCATION

The estate offers flexible parking, with gravel areas for around 15–20 vehicles near the main house and large overflow fields accommodating up to 150 cars, with additional space available if needed. Interior facilities within the main house and log cabins can be used for crew bases, including kitchens and toilets. The estate can arrange experienced local catering and mobile food units with advance notice, suitable for both small and large productions.

GETTING TO WHISPER ESTATE

Whisper Estate is well connected, approximately 15 minutes from Honiton and 30 minutes from Exeter by car. By rail, trains from London Waterloo to Honiton take around 3 hours, or from London Paddington to Exeter (approx. 2 hours). By car, travel time is just over 3 hours to London.
