Float Farm is a delightful 200 acre grass and woodland farm, where nature thrives and an old farmstead with extraordinary farmhouse is nestled in the middle.
The ancient woodland consists of mature Oak and Hornbeam, coppiced areas of young trees, a large area of Weston Hemlock (which could provide a Scandinavian look), a beautiful evergreen Fir and a small area of Christmas trees. The woodland was selected as one of the 70 Ancient Woodlands dedicated to Her Majesty the Queen in celebration of her Platinum Jubilee in 2022 as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy.

- Just a 10 minute drive from Ashford International station, only 35 minutes from St Pancras
Facilities at Float Farm
- Power & Signal:
- Renewable heat systems are on site including woodchip/biomass boiler, and estate-grown timber heating supply our boiler with their own chip from their semi natural ancient woodland
- 3-phase power is available for productions on-site in house or in the barn
- Water Supply:
- Piped water is available onsite for production use and have 24 leaky woody dams to hold water back and flood our land to help southern water
- Public Transportation & Vehicle Use:
- Plenty of parking on the drive and in the farmyard.
- EV cars can recharge by plugging into the barn for use
- The site is accessible by public transport (i.e. Ashford International 10 minutes away), and local taxi firms
- On-farm vehicles ( i.e. a ranger that takes 5 and a quad) can be provided for getting around the site but farm/team would need to drive them
- Accommodation & Available Spaces:
- Overnight on-site accommodation include bell tents, a shepherds hut, and railway carriage. Additionally, they can put people up in the house as well.
- Overnight accommodation available within a 10 minute drive (i.e. Ashford International, and many hotels in Ashford or the Woolpack at Warehorn)
- Crew are welcome inside the farm house, and a brick barn with access to power and water is accessible for crew use
- Additionally spaces available for use include, 5 toilets, handwashing facilities, and green rooms (where cast or talent rest in comfort)
- Waste, Recycling & Repurposing:
- Recycling facilities are available on site including glass, mixed recycling, cardboard/paper, metal, and plastic. Additionally, recycle bins can be provided.
- Composting facilities are available on site including, food waste composting, green waste composting, and compost toilets
- Specialist waste areas managed on-site include animal waste and agricultural waste
- Open to storing, reusing or repurposing materials, props or set-build items from productions
- Catering & Food:
- Surplus of food can be redistributed or shared locally and on the farm.
- A farm shop, and professional catering service on-site are available for use. Additionally, many local caterers of different prices are available (i.e. Stella Grove Alli Tenant Charlotte Butterworth)
- Facilities available for crew catering needs include a whole well-equipped kitchen facilities, simple tea-making and washing up facility, undercover dining areas, indoor seating, and outdoor seating (i.e. glamping barn seats 40 plus easily)
- Equipment for Hire and Support:
- Farm vehicles and machinery, fencing/gates, hay/straw bales, and animals can be made available for productions to use on site
- Support available to crew by the farm include earthworks support, grounds-keeping support, supply of farm props/materials, driving of farm vehicles, practical production assistance, and animal handling
- The local area can provide catering suppliers, recruiting crew members, equipment or unit/tech vehicle suppliers, and transport services.
- Greens & Foliage:
- Plants, foliage and other natural materials can be sourced from the farm, through neighbouring farms/landowners, and through local contacts
- Plants, foliage and other natural materials can be retained, reused or composted on-site
- Crew Wellbeing
- Support for crew wellbeing can be available through forest bathing, and next door green farm can provide yoga massage and more.
