The Humble Barn
Barns come in all shapes and sizes and against many different backdrops, but often when we think of barns for filming and photoshoots we look for the ancient, old and tumbled buildings of yesteryear. Farm locations have some of the very best examples. Topsy Farm Estate features an immaculately preserved stone tithe barn. The 13th century Old Kentish Farm is home to a traditional black timber barn which showcases the past with a display of traditional craftsmanship and original features. The stone barn at Dash Farm sits at the centre of the farmyard and Bygone Farm’s Medieval style barn hosts a balcony that provides far reaching views across the location.
Unusual barns
Barns have stood in our landscape for centuries and it is no surprise that there are many unusual examples out there. We love discovering ‘out of the ordinary’ barns for filming and photoshoots from the chequered red brick of Mistletoe Farm’s unusually tall threshing barn to Somerset Farm’s hot red tin roof and Square Farm’s eclectic 1870’s red doors and intricate tiles.
Filming and photoshoots at Barns
Barns prove a popular choice when looking for an interesting, but eclectic rural back drop for filming and photoshoots. Cherry Farm in Hertfordshire is one of our sought after locations with shoots booked from fashion editorials, music videos to seasonal adverts.
Inspirational and eclectic interiors
Whilst we have the traditional timbered barn interiors our portfolio also boasts a varied range of unusual and inspiring barn interiors. Opulent chandeliers swing from ancient rafters at Rosy Farm, hundreds of fairy lights are strung across Woodpecker Farm‘s barn and Present Farm is a riot of unexpected props and curiosities.
Domesday Manor Farm, CO10
A rare find of a shoot location, Domesday Manor Farm wows with its remarkable period farm setting in a rural idyll. Take a step back in time amongst the lovingly preserved courtyard with its old village feel and cluster of characterful barns and outbuildings, full of olde English flair, history and textures. Domesday Manor offers multiple barns as filming and photoshoot backdrops including the original Granary, the Wheat barn and a large Tudor barn featuring delightful quirky interiors.
