Farm Locations joins the BAFTA Albert Suppliers Directory

We’re proud to announce that Farm Locations has joined the BAFTA Albert Suppliers Directory, giving film and television productions another way to discover rural locations and suppliers with sustainability at the heart of their work.

The directory recognises suppliers committed to more sustainable practices across the screen industries, and we’re delighted to be part of a network driving positive change in film and television.

BAFTA Albert is the leading screen industry organisation for environmental sustainability, providing online tools, training, practical guidance and thought leadership to help industry professionals reduce the environmental impact of their work, both on and off screen.

Following a detailed application process, we’re pleased to have met the directory’s sustainability criteria and to be the only locations agency currently listed.

The BAFTA Albert Suppliers Directory is a valuable resource for productions looking to make more sustainable choices when selecting suppliers. For productions working with Farm Locations, our inclusion offers an additional level of reassurance that sustainability is an important part of how we approach our work.

We’re committed to creating meaningful opportunities for productions to engage with the countryside and benefit from its extraordinary variety, while contributing positively to the farms, landowners and environments that make filming in these locations possible.

For Farm Locations, this is an important milestone in a journey that has been developing for many years. Sustainability has never felt like an additional service or a box to tick. It has always been part of our thinking.

Jo founded the agency after seeing how many crews travelled overseas to film rural settings that could be sourced much closer to home, when so much diversity is evident, but untapped or undiscovered, across the UK countryside. Today, as champions of rural Britain, we’re building on that founding idea by working more closely with farms and productions to make sustainable location choices easier, clearer and more accessible.

Sustainability matters a lot to us

Farm Locations exists to connect the creative industries with privately owned rural land across the UK. Our purpose has always been to help productions find the right locations, whatever their size, budget or brief, while working with landowners who share our values and take a thoughtful, sustainable approach to caring for their land.

We also believe the positive impact of filming in rural locations can extend beyond carbon reduction alone.

Film and television have a unique opportunity to connect people with the natural world. When managed thoughtfully, filming on farms can help productions tell compelling stories while creating opportunities to support rural businesses, celebrate the countryside and contribute positively to the places in which they work.

That belief sits at the heart of our approach to sustainability. We want to help productions make informed choices that consider not only the practical demands of a shoot, but also the wider environment and communities involved.

Looking ahead

Claire Henry, our Sustainability Lead, is working with our landowners and production clients to develop practical resources, communications and processes that support more sustainable decision-making throughout the production journey, from pre-production and location scouting through to wrap.

Joining the BAFTA Albert Suppliers Directory is an important step forward, helping us connect productions with suitable rural locations more efficiently while continuing to develop the relationship between production, farming and the natural environment.

Our farms are working, living landscapes, not simply filming backdrops. They are homes, businesses, food producers and ecosystems, shaped and cared for over generations. They are also part of a precious and often fragile countryside that deserves to be treated with respect.

We believe productions have a real opportunity to engage with these places in ways that are thoughtful, mutually beneficial and more sustainable.

We’re delighted to be joining the BAFTA Albert Suppliers Directory and look forward to building on this progress through Project Green & Brown. Together, we want to make it easier for productions to discover and work with rural locations, while helping create a more sustainable future for the places in which we film.
