On a cold and windy February day, high on a hill overlooking the Brede Valley, the 50+ strong crew for Hungryman Productions along with 150 extras descended on Great Knights Farm in Sussex to form a festival scene. The Sussex field was one of the chosen shoot locations for the new EE campaign featuring Kevin Bacon and I’m a Celebrity winner Scarlett Moffatt.
The field location is one of the focal points on engineer Kevin Bacon’s journey in the quirky turquoise truck – it takes him across all extremes of terrain to promote how much further telecomms giant EE’s network can reach. Overlooking the music festival in a cherry picker, Kevin demonstrates how EE reaches even the most remotest of fields in the midst of crowd craziness.
The film shoot started on the beach at Pett Level, and then followed on at the field located within just a 15 minute drive of the coast. The chosen field location offered dry ground conditions underneath, and plenty of unspoilt countryside as a backdrop. Access was good, and there were acres of space to base the huge crew and group of extras. Over 150 vehicles entered the fields.
The shoot included a prep day for teepees to be erected and for the art department to prepare the festival shoot scene.
Hiring a field from a farmer as shoot location has its bonuses. We were on hand throughout the 3 days of production to help tow vehicles in and out with a tractor, ranging from the articulated dining cars (below) to the smart people carrier with the client on board!
